The article I read said an employee recognized him, but all the photos I've seen of "the suspect" were the ones of the guy wearing a different jacket & backpack.
Am I missing something?

This isn't the exact article I read earlier but it also refers to a tip related to the new photos.
Regardless, IMO, the real villain here isn't AI, but the humans who decided to release the photo that clearly isn't right.

Did he have two different backpacks? Police are circulating pictures with a light colored backpack and a dark colored backpack. This looks like the dark colored backpack guy to me.
