Saw The Choral, set in Yorkshire in 1916. It's WW1, the Choral Society struggles for male voices. A beautifully layered piece, written by Alan Bennett. Terrific performances. Fabulous singing, especially from Jacob Dudman and Amara Okereke. It's about art, history, & humanity. Highly recommended.

(plus more if it does REALLY WELL). In the last couple of days it's been announced that Meta have been using authors' books to train their AI without permission, essentially stealing their work.

So, if you want to support books and the people who write them, buy their books.

Slow progress with the WIP this week because I got wrapped up in family history research, looking for my paternal grandfather's secret love child, Michael Lockyer (1935-2005). Found traces, but need to fill in missing details and find out whether I have long-lost cousins. Love a good mystery.

So the recent election (you know which one) is like Star Wars - the first (best) trilogy. Lets call the parts 45, 46, and 47. So in 45 it was pretty grim, but the good guys won in the end, and that led to 46, which was going pretty well until the Han Solo in Carbonite election, leading to 47.

I made a pact with a friend to write every day in November. I missed Day 1 and barely got going on day 2, but I'm keeping up with it, now. I started at 8k words, now (6th November) I'm at 13,751 words, so today has been 1,835 words. (Not doing NaNoWriMo because of their take on generative AI.)
