Unapologetically trans. Apologetic about the rest.

Non-binary trans femme (they/them)
I think there’s some folks who legitimately have no way of getting or keeping a job.

That said, it sure does seem like MA requests are always in the form of egregious amounts of cash (“I need $200 for my monthly phone bill”) and not any other sort of assistance. That might be selection bias though.

lol no.

The assumption that every trans person is socially stunted and starts to learn how to live only post-transition is hugely infantilizing to our whole community.

The best part is that the person in 2&3 very often *is* someone who wants and needs HRT, and just doesn't have access to it.

They're utterly miserable and manufacturing an exclusion when the "step 1" was meant to advocate for their needs!
November 18, 2025 at 4:18 AM
Step 1 - someone says "trans folks who use/need HRT have different needs than trans folks who don't."
Step 2 - someone else decides that this is creating a "hierarchy" of "real and fake trans"
Step 3 - they decide that this is "transmedicalism."

They are *going* to assume a gender based on appearance, and ain't no one gonna "they/them" everyone, and as established, asking pronouns in these circumstances is not realistic.

So what we have is a reality where *only* trans folks get a "they/them" which is a misgendering 95% of the time.

What you're asking for is not realistic in any way.

Retail worker to another: "Hey, that customer looks lost, could you help..."

Retail worker shouts to customer: "Ey, you, what's your pronouns?"

Customer: "He/him"

Retail worker "...help him out?"

“Some of us”… like me?

I’d rather they just assume, tbh. It’s so much worse when they assume for every cis person and then make it clear that they’ve clocked us by asking pronouns only for trans folks.

Also, third person pronouns means you’re talking about someone, not TO them. How would they ask?

Absolutely. By the same token, it’s definitely nationwide. I’ll remind anyone who’ll listen that my home of Boston is one of the worst segregated cities in the nation!

(And of the white folks disenfranchised, it's mostly college-age folks, who also vote to the left).

The South can be both horrifically racist and ALSO a majority population held hostage by an unpopular minority.
November 17, 2025 at 7:18 PM
It certainly would help, though?

When folks talk about "voter suppression," they're not talking about middle-aged liberal white folks being unable to vote.

It's Black and Hispanic voters being systematically disenfranchised, and fixing that sure could matter!

Dudes rock. It’s also been really rough seeing some folks with this knee jerk reaction against masculinity or T.

Yes I’m transfemme, but I still love the masculine parts of me.

No, babe, 0 is not a goal for T. The body needs some, stop thinking of it as poison.

That’s an insult to Phyrexia.

Might just be a function of where one lives! Here in New England, the RH stays pretty high indoors in the summer by virtue of hot, humid air coming in and then being cooled.
November 17, 2025 at 3:37 AM
This isn’t a “modern HVAC” problem. It’s just a matter of heating up cold fall/winter air to room temperatures.

Same issue with radiators from 100+ years ago.

Humidifiers are crucial for the winter!

The fact of the matter is that if you wanted to prove hot point rather than being a contrarian, you’d actually suggest something you prefer. But you’re not doing anything being saying “bah humbug.”

Splitting prizes is fine. Magic rules are EXTREMELY harsh on gambling or bribery because WotC is very cautious about that. So even “let’s flip a coin” can be considered a DQ.

Intent doesn’t much matter, they just won’t allow it, zero tolerance.

OK but Piano Man has incredible unintentional lore when you imagine that he's a straight guy who doesn't realize he's in a gay bar.

Or alternately, he's a misanthrope who's completely roasting his audience because he's the "piano man," but they keep asking him to sing rather than play.
