bluesky's problem is many people who care a lot about decentralized infrastructure are not very good at thinking about interface design or social psychology lol like getting mad that average people don't have good norms around open protocols is so silly

every social app needs to have a dedicated Beef Zone. like a fight club for words. if you start shit with someone it immediately gets put into a Fights tab and your followers can bet on who's gonna win the fight. loser gets a 3 day mute to simulate having a broken jaw from a bar fight

interesting discussion going on here but i don't think the very optimistic responses cover the issue of how do you actually make bad actors respect the tools you put up, like maybe i'm dumb but what's stopping anyone from pulling your posts and using the same api tools to make harassment way easier
Should a platform prohibit things like calling me a killer? If I report a comment that says "you got away with murder, you belong in prison" should that be a violation or not? Should a platform be responsible for preventing that sort of thing, or is it just on me to block?
