Hi, I'm Ishtar 🕊️
I'm a neurodivergent archaeology student, professional computer scientist, and novelist.

I talk about EDXRF, gamma spectroscopy, prehistory, cats, LGBT issues, women's issues, mineralogy, sapphic stuff, and a bunch of other topics. 🥰

I'm happy to chat, but please be nice❤️
Okay that's enough Bronze Age action adventure romance writing for me for today.

Giving the EMIIb period a rest 😂

Time to go for a walk, then play video games, then bed.

I have a lot of books to read over various minor things that came up while writing that need to get addressed for accuracy

You just died. The sixth picture in your phone is what killed you.

( This was actually my sixth photo... We call it, "fallout salmon," as It looks like something you find in the game lol)

For my bad guy mercenary group, I've decided to add a female warrior.

But what culture might she come from?

2370 BCE, Mediterranean area.
But she could come from anywhere within a thousand miles 🤔

Already have them from Ur and Egypt... What would be interesting?

🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Also leave a rating and review!!!

This can be even more important for indie authors. It doesn't even cost you anything, but almost nobody ever does it 😭
If you like an author's work, the best thing you can do is buy it. The second best thing you can do is ask your local library to buy it. Or, do both!
A reminder that the median book deal for a debut author in the UK is £7000, paid over 12-18 months. (from 2022 Society of Authors report). Some of your favourite writers are struggling. societyofauthors.org/2022/12/06/a....

I wonder if anybody's ever noticed in my stories that all of my stars are correct. They're correct for the time of year, location, and even axial procession (over ~26ka).

That's one detail I spent a lot of time on that I bet almost nobody ever notices...

LEAVE ME ALONE TYSON lol

One major problem writing a romance novel set in 2370 BCE Crete (EMI IIB) is a lack of information lol

The Society is only a bit urban, with a lot of their Neolithic past still hanging on, and so little is known.

Years of study and I am still filled with holes lol

We must add frog DNA

Our paper is out! Although wolves and dogs can interbreed and produce fertile offspring, hybridization between the two is rare. We found that most dogs today have low but detectable levels of post-domestication wolf ancestry that has shaped their evolution in human environments. tinyurl.com/yt4x4r7n

Dogs evolved through interactions between people and gray wolves during the Late Pleistocene and have been ubiquitous in human societies ever since...

Working on my next novel this week. If you get a chance, I will see if I can get my just released novel paperback editions going. I think I just have to approve them, but I've been behind on things this last month lol

Damn prices have gone up...
In the store today i saw:

Mentos $3.39
TicTacs $2.69
Altoids $3.99
Hershy Bar $3.39

This isn't even like a, back when I was a child, sort of situation. Back like 2 years ago these were half that price.

I found an HP 12C RPN calculator in the wild yesterday! It's not the good programming version, but it's still really nice. Such beautiful calculators ☺️

I spent today listening to some of Evolutionary Socialism: A Criticism and Affirmation, by Eduard Bernstein

So far, I agree with some of what he's saying, especially where it relates to criticisms of Marx's dialectical predestination of workers and revolution, which I think is harsh

Hey, if you have read my books, I would really appreciate it if you could go online and rate them. Just clicking the little 1-5 star button takes a 2 seconds, and it is the most useful thing in the world 🥰

And for that matter, doing that for any author you have read is a wonderful thing 🥰🥰🥰

Umm .... SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

It even has a cool name: SPECTRUMMATE

A low-cost Spectrometer for Small Telescopes.

This would make an excellent addition to amateur and pro-am astrophotographers, as well as Uni depts and local observatories.

WANT.

Behold: The Cheeto!

This is what we call a nail or other ferric metal object after it's been in the ground too long. It develops this red rust all the way around it and eventually resembles a snack food called a cheeto lol

Before and after I clean it images lol

This was my unit a few days ago. I've gone down a couple inches since then and I may have hit the next context interface. We'll have to find out tomorrow after a good cleaning. Silty loam with a little clay, 7.5yr 5/6, cobbles, pebbles, and the hint of the cultural layer.

I came home tonight quite tired from archeology.

It rained and it was really cold as we were trying to clean up the sides of the unit we were excavating. But even as I come home covered in dirt, my tank top dusty, and my body tired...

I feel like wonderful 🥰

I love #archaeology 🏺
