A 34-year-old as a politician: My god he's like a baby. It's like they just elected an infant to be their mayor.

A 34-year-old as an athlete: You have to admire the bravery of him attempting that dunk, knowing full well the grim reaper is right behind him.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Media around Portland’s problems always start from a dishonest implication that these issues are recent.

They ignore how city leadership and business interests ignored these issues and allowed them to compound for over a decade, instead blaming political newcomers.

Not only does this story get a number of basic facts wrong, it doesn’t take time to actually explore why Portlanders elected these folks. Coming in with a pre-baked PDX story to fit a NYT narrative about NYC is harmful, especially at this moment.

Taking my first steps into learning geometry nodes in #blender!

Working towards a more complicated rocky environment generator for a game I'm working on. Right now I have the basics down with reading from an image texture and noise texture to extrude upwards, and then optimize faces.

one great mystery of our age is how the only way to motivate rich people to work is to give them loads of money for no reason but the only way to motivate poor people to work is to take away loads of their money for no reason

Biggest loss from tiktok ban imo is whatever they do to prevent bullying and belligerent comments. Sure bullying there still exists, but compared to Instagram / YouTube / Facebook it’s miles better.

I find it alarming how little you see about the LA fires on any social media site that isn't TikTok. Maybe it's who I follow / what I interact with, but on my Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube it's like it isn't even happening.

This has the same feeling as when sites like cracked fired writers to pivot to being just videos, only for Facebook to later reveal that their stats were a lie and most sites that pivoted to video went out of business
The $82.5 million sale of "Hot Ones" studio First We Feast is part of a broader strategy at BuzzFeed to shift away from human editors, writers and content producers in favor of artificial intelligence, which result in "high-margin, tech-enabled revenue lines."

It is getting suspiciously close to the end of my contract without confirmation of being brought in full time so I guess I'm looking for a job now:

I would love to move into build engineering and have good XP with ci/cd, as well as test automation. If you know of a job I'd love to hear it! Thanks!

AI boy/girlfriends seem like such an obvious massive risk for blackmail, especially with younger people using them. The whole thing is so gross and exploitive.

Like a decade ago we almost lost our cat when she squeezed between the screen and window frame to get to all turkeys she smelled cooking in the building. Thankfully her hips got stuck, and I found her dangling out the second story window- perfectly happy, nose in the air smelling the turkey fumes.
