Looking for Irish artists who sell work as prints or reproductions. Suggestions? #speirgorm

@harvilla.bsky.social well just learned that from you that Butlerian jihad is something from Dune and not related to Judith Butler, post-modern theorist. Thanks!

Late to the party, but #badsisters is phenomenal! The acting is top-notch and I feel bad for the actor playing JP because he’s so loathsome people will be scowling at him for years to come. #speirgorm

On 15 March 1939 Hitler and his deputy summoned the Czech President to Hitler’s residence in Berlin and then bullied him to submitting to a German invasion of his country.
They drove him to the point of physical collapse, threatening him until he eventually signed his country’s death warrant.

Very worried for Canada right now, a country my family has lived in for 210 years. Will support whichever party has a real plan to diversify the economy, strengthen ties w/Europe and Asia and promote Cdn culture, history and heritage which is NOT THE SAME AS THE USA 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦#canpoli

At work, unable to do much of value. I can now see why Scrooge felt the way he did.

French onion soup is in the oven and I already know this is my new annual tradition.

Truly a unique collection #booksky. Started with Long Island, one of the non-fiction next.

Feeling festive but also melancholy because I wish I was having boozy parties full of interesting people, holiday snacks and intellectual but not pretentious chat. I have elderly non-intellectual parents and harried friends instead.

Looking for a readable/popular Irish history book, ideally one more focused on society/culture than military battles. Inspired by the wonderful @passportirish.bsky.social

Always surprised to see how many fantasy books are in the kids/preteen section! When I was that age in the early 90s they were all about parents divorcing/cancer/surviving a plane crash etc.

Looking for writing advice #booksky. I can create characters and settings but struggle to find things for my characters to DO. Or at least things that aren’t ripoffs of books I like reading. Suggestions to develop plots?

The insane bike towards @allylouks.bsky.social for her PhD is truly depressing, especially the complaints that the words in her abstract are ‘too long’. My dad once read a grad school paper I wrote and asked if they taught me to write so academically. Uh, yes? That’s the point?

As these photographs clearly show, with over 900 years of candle smoke cleaned from its walls and glass, and new stonework in places, Notre Dame, Paris, has taken on an incredible new sense of freshness, space and light. #NotreDameDeParis

I leant upon a coppice gate
When Frost was spectre-gray,
And Winter’s dregs made desolate
The weakening eye of day.
The tangled bine-stems scored the sky
Like strings of broken lyres,
And all mankind that haunted nigh
Had sought their household fires.
