🏳️‍🌈 Solo Irish game dev. I am slowly making an existential horror first-person game about traveling underground and dehumanising yourself. I have unreasonably strong opinions on games and film.
Bonus demonstration of the raycast logic. #gamedev #indiedev #unity3d

A much more complex follow-up demo to my audio occlusion system post. I have upgraded it to be much more tuneable. I need to divide the video to meet Bluesky's limits.

My janky but effective audio occlusion system. Very few out-of-the-box tools for things like this. Google Resonance just does binary occlusion and Steam Audio does full (expensive) acoustic simulation. Where's the option for people who want something just good enough?

This is what running into it is like.

Does this look and sound sufficiently dangerous?

Tentacles are also for climbing!

I need you to believe me that despite all evidence to the contrary I am not obsessed with tentacles.

Entirely procedural run cycle for these tentacle guys.

Though undoubtedly creatures of darkness themselves, they cannot help but reach for the light.

I hope this three-way split video works, I wasn't sure how else to cram all that info onto the screen at once. I fear Bluesky is going to compress it to hell, but you get the idea. All made in Unity, and probably not of much interest to non-Unity-devs 😀

Here is a little demo of a procedural cave-generating system for my existential horror first-person game. It works by taking base blocks and a bunch of different variables and producing semi-random tunnels/caves/tombs. You can scale it, swap textures, tweak lots of things. It's all just blocks.
