One homicidal white man has never been used as an excuse to criminalize all white men. We should not allow that to happen to immigrants in the aftermath of this DC shooting.

Incisive point:
Don’t forget that *Trump’s own lawyer’s argument* to the Supreme Court in the immunity case was that the check on the President using his immunity to order criminal acts was that those under him would not follow illegal orders. Now it’s a crime for lawmakers to remind servicemembers of that?
The President doesn't want you standing up and speaking out against him, so he's coming after me to intimidate all of us.

But I won't back down — and neither should you.

When the MAGA folks start hollering about how we have to get rid of all immigrants because of today’s shooting, I want folks to remember that cops bought white supremacist Dylann Roof a meal at Burger King after he killed nine Black people at a Charleston church.

This is a deeply unsurprising response, but I will repeat it yet again: we—DC residents—are unified in stating that we want federal agents and the National Guard out of our city, and they do not keep us safer. This has always been about control, not public safety.
US Defence Secretary Hegseth: Trump has asked for 500 additional troops to be deployed to Washington, DC, after two National Guard members were shot.

Folks, two things can true at the same time.

These 2 National Guard members should not have been shot, and it's a disgusting act of violence. And, Trump + Miller have deliberately deployed them to incite division { violence. That's part of Miller's plan. They have no reason to be in our cities.
National Guard members should never have been deployed in Washington, DC.

The reason I talk so much about Democrats in rural America is because it’s key to taking the country back.

We can’t wring many more blue votes out of the cities. Come back to rural spaces. Run for office. Contest every race.

This is the way.

Again, Reagan literally couldn’t do the job & his henchmen were engaged in wildly illegal policy that should have ended his presidency (Iran-Contra). Ditto Trump now every day x100. Biden couldn’t campaign anymore. These things were not remotely the same. The wrong one was made a nonstop scandal.
👇🎯💯 All of this. Not a single person or journalist is able to identify a single part of the actual <governing> & <policy> part of the job Biden wasn’t doing. And we never had this feeding frenzy for Reagan or Trump, both of whom weren’t able/willing to do the actual job during their terms. Enough.
I say all this to say, stop it. Biden was old, tired, not as sharp in language, recall or gait as two years before.

But he was doing the job and doing it well. Sadly he was not able to effectively do the Comms part of the job which requires vigor & charisma.

Now do a wellness check on Trump.

But right now, I am less worried about affixing political blame than seeing that the deaths themselves are not politicized. The family members of those two National Guardsmen must be treated with dignity by everyone. They are not a prop to be used to serve either a pro-Trump or an anti-Trump agenda.

We are not in a war. Killing soldiers on a street corner in D.C. is an act of war only if you are a legitimate combatant. Calling it terrorism is charitable; it is simply murder. It is also what I've been worried about for weeks. Soldiers on the street can't police. All they do is present a target.

precisely my thought. the president and his dumbass republican allies put these men and women into harm’s way for a political stunt and look what has happened
Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.
