Me and some neighbors went down to talk to them and they were all completely cool, they're also parents and realize that this shit sucks

Oh this is night two of it, but it won't be as bad once it's no longer directly below us. The whole building was vibrating

Oh believe me everyone is extremely confused and upset about it, but also it being Geneva and all, there's a feeling of "this wouldn't happen anywhere else in Switzerland, but all is fair in the chaos dome"

No aurora borealis detected in Geneva 👎

they're upgrading the sprinkler systems in the shopping center downstairs and I guess they decided it's easier to do it at night. But the building is solid concrete and they're using SDS drills, and you can hear it everywhere indoors. Were we notified of this fact: no

i'm not a drummer, but: doing a close-listen to that song, it's amazing how tight and clear the drums sound despite not being high in the mix. And there are these little details, a few subtle tom hits, some mystery percussion to liven it up a bit. It's far more complex than I initially thought

it's good! I kept feeling like I was listening to a total merging of Galaxie 500 and Swirlies (two bands I like). the build-up is really nice and the vocals work great with it.

it feels like there was this notion that knowing anything about it would somehow intrude on an appreciation of the overall spirit, and I've def. found that to not be the case. Also, I've worked with musicians who've come up in DIY punk bands and indie music, and at a certain point you have to learn

this song is only three chords. there is no B or C part. it's three major triads the whole time. everything else is just musicianship, technique, and insanely fucking good vibes. I realize that this is a gold-standard boomer opinion but they're actually correct here youtu.be/Pyt250qx9uA?...

Fleetwood Mac's songs are pretty simple musically. Some of them are like 1+1=2 simple in terms of composition. But they're phenomenal performers, impossibly good singers, their attention to detail was *demonic*, and they had near-infinity money recording budgets in the apogee of the analog era
