I really do think that colour is helpful to identify steps in multi stage problems. But there is also scope to use it to link parts of a solution to the words in the question.

Great time seeing Matilda The Musical in London with my nearly 8 year old tonight. Love having a daddy son date night now he is getting older. #matilda

Create a Question Strip, great for starters. Same set of questions on each side.

This one is on Differentiation of Polynomials.

Took 30 seconds as I regenerated the questions to get them to increase in difficulty.

Create Odd One Out activities using any of the 70 different topics available (or a mixture of them)

This one is on equations of straight lines.

Worksheet created in 10 seconds on straight line graphs. Nothing fancy, just a few questions. Great for a starter or retrieval activity.

You can also make a Codebreaker, odd one out, loop cards.

All free, no sign up.

I have added a new topic to my generators: Gradient.

Find gradients from lines, draw gradients, gradients from two points, missing coordinate given gradient.

Turned into worksheets, treasure hunt, matching cards.

A new tool to help with IBDP AAHL studying:
1. select a question and be told which topics it includes;
2. select a topic and see which questions include it;
3. see frequency analysis of all topics across all past papers.

This should help both teachers and students in revision. #ibmaths #aahl

The Question Strip activity type is really useful for quick starters. Choose a topic and create questions, then choose the number of columns. Save on printing and easy to stick in books.

In #MathsToday I used AI to create a set of 10 multiple choice questions on finding the equation of a line from 2 points which I could project. It worked within the AI, and we could select the answers and get immediate feedback.

Useful as a Maths activity, but also to show kids how to ise AI well.

Frequency Analysis: Breaking the Code
All simple substitution ciphers are susceptible to frequency analysis, which uses the fact that some letters are more common than others to break a code.

With the Cipher Challenge coming up soon from @cipher-challenge.bsky.social your students might be interested in learning about codes and ciphers. I have a website dedicated to this, which details how they work and has applets to encrypt and decrypt.

Year 13 learned about the reverse chain rule, integrating with partial fractions and using trig identities in integrals yesterday. Including the need to always look for f'(x)/f(x). #MathsToday

In #MathsToday year 12 worked on logs. Always like to get them to estimate log 34 as they are surprised by the result.

And year 10 did an investigation on the perimeter of regular polygons in a line.

In #MathsToday we had 2 cakes in year 13. I always make the deal with the class that if anyone forgets the +c they have to bring cake next lesson (+cake!!!)

In #MathsToday year 13 started integration, and year 12 did a prior knowledge test before starting the HL course!

Year 10 did an investigation into the greatest perimeter possible when regular polygons are placed adjacent.

Amazing to see real life history in Spain this weekend. Yesterday we saw Dinosaur Footprints 🦕 and today cave paintings. Can clearly see a family of 2 adults and 4 children.

I’m looking for a standardised or diagnostic assessment tool that can be used to determine specific strength and weakness of our students, with the view to improving and intervention in maths. For years 7-11. It’s an international school.
