It's a very pundit brain idea that an open convention would have resulted in any other outcome than Harris, since Biden's delegate slate had a supermajority. Maybe in a scenario where Biden himself explicitly said it shouldn't be Harris but in our reality it was going to be Harris.

Like in theory it could be some other embassy, but I doubt he'd roll the dice on Argentina with the presidential elections coming up, it'd probably be US, but I could see Hungary not ideal for him but better than prison, and while a complication for Orban it'd also be a feather in his cap.

Yeah even I can see this is all wrong, and I'm not a great writer by any stretch. Would have said "he used a bird not a bullet" framing it as a negative is jarring. Or how about " It was not about the chase, but about mastering the puzzle of logic, a test of skill. Then just delete the rest.

Every time I see the name Halligan I think of Brett Halligan the protagonist of "The Mystery of the Druids," and this is absolutely something Brett would do. At one point he knocks a homeless man out via a drink spiked with medicinal alcohol so he can steal his change and make a phone call.
