How I am just realizing that the Xena theme song was not spoken in English (Auditory processing problems ftw) and that when I look up the lyrics? IT'S NOT SUNG IN GREEK BUT IN BULGARIAN!!!!

Look, I love Xena, but that is trifling. They didn't even really try to tie in shit from Greek culture.
The Xena theme song was sung in Bulgarian, a language that uses the Cyrillic alphabet. The lyrics were based on a traditional Bulgarian folk song called "Kaval sviri" and were adapted for the show by composer Joseph LoDuca. The Bulgarian women's choir who sang it had the lyrics transliterated into the Latin alphabet before translation into English for the first season's liner notes. Language: The lyrics are in Bulgarian.

I love it when people twist what I said. I didn't say that it was the author's fault that film execs chose to adapt her book. I said that it's certainly a fucking choice to choose to adapt a white woman's book about two queer men.
We do know that the showrunner is a white, cis, gay man right? How is it Rachel's fault that a gay Canadian saw a queer book series by a Canadian author about a popular sport in Canada and decided to adapt it for film? There should absolutely be more BIPOC book to film adaptations but that also means that people actually need to option the rights to those books and pitch them to studios.

WE decide what gets fics. It comes off strange and off putting to me.
