For sure. It’s not like I think people SHOULDN’T pay attention to local races or be engaged, but I do think national politics have been steeped in local for a decades at this point on a much more material level (fin. assistance, local subsidies, etc), and media has surely made it easier to be aware.

And a whole host of other considerations…
I know it’s a dying trend especially now for people to bring up the whole “let’s not get distracted by national issues and focus on your neighborhood” thing, but every time I hear it now its just so tone deaf.

National/federal issues are VERY mired in local affairs.
Like, millions of people get financial assistance from national programs.
Millions go to work/do business via infrastructure thats at least in part federally funded.
Our environment and wildlife are protected in part by federal investment.
