On Bluesky now that it feels like what Twitter used to be.
Before Twitter became Musk's personal plaything.
As general rule, war veterans should be honoured for their actions during the war and should have adequate support from the state especially as they get older - however you shouldn't always put the words of a war veteran on a pedestal and feel unable to challenge them

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism discovered that Sri Lankan based influencer Geeth Sooriyapura was responsible for a significant amount of content on Facebook that radicalised people in the UK - particularly older people more suggestable to such content, like angry pensioners.

British logic in the past 15 years:

The cure to bailing out the bankers was to vote Conservative so they implement austerity and "regain" the cash at.

The solution to austerity was to vote Brexit "to take back control."

The solution to the new economy created by Brexit is to vote Reform. 🙃

The director, Brett Ratner was accused of sexual assault by several women including Natasha Henstridge.

He also apparently followed one actress into the bathroom and there were other disturbing allegations and in hindsight, it was noted that some of the content in his films seemed a bit creepy *

*The London School of Economics still has a policy of inclusion, back when Zia Yusuf was a student it was focused on diversity, fairness and the idea to "facilitate the admission of those students who can benefit from and contribute to the LSE community"

The far-right love to embrace Christian imagery even if they don't believe in the faith. In Germany during the Third Reich Lutheran pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer spoke out against them for going against the teachings of the faith.

He was executed at Flossenbürg camp in April 1945 just before war's end

During the 1895 siege of Chitral a Sikh needleman created his version of the Union Flag, originally he had sewn crossed swords* (to represent Sikhs) and a crescent* (to represent Muslims) in the middle of the flag but was asked by British commanders to remove the symbols from his flag.

This news comes as the General Medical Council (GMC) raises concerns about doctors leaving the NHS and the potential for "huge holes" that the health service will "struggle to fill".

The main concern in government though - has been to crack down on immigration and make it harder to settle in the UK

The annoying thing about this is that Starmer should have announced an investigation and inquiry into this - something that would have got cross-party support.

Instead, he effectively lets Farage off the hook:

"We investigated ourselves and found ourselves not guilty. Thank you, Mr Starmer. "

While this is kind of welcome, what is needed is a dramatic overhaul of the pricing structure and a significant reduction in the cost of travel across the country.

At the moment rather than buying a return ticket it's often cheaper to buy at least two single tickets for longer journeys.

Over 5 years later and there is still no EU army - concerns about an EU army were largely manufactured by Russia (which also opposes NATO).

Putin Paranoia about an EU army probably was due to his desire to expand into Eastern Europe when given the chance - starting with Ukraine.

Epstein actually said Trump was "Evil Beyond Belief" and "Borderline Insane".

Jeffrey Epstein 🤯

Which begs the question - what did Epstein know about Trump?

The borderline insane isn't surprising but the fact he spoke of him as evil beyond belief - raises questions.

"Record numbers of overseas-trained doctors are quitting the UK, leaving the NHS at risk of huge gaps in its workforce, with hostility towards migrants blamed for the exodus."

Reform and its ilk will then go on to blame migration for shortages in the NHS and their supporters will lap it up

Cummings is a very odd chap - spent his formative years in Russia and then ended up effectively directing UK policy in the aftermath of the Brexit vote, which itself seemed to have been swayed by Russian political interference.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman couldn't help but smile when Mary Bruce of ABC asked him about the brutal murder of Jamal Khashoggi and the fact 9/11 families were angry about this visit.

Donald Trump on other hand was angered by the question and called ABC "fake news".

When Labour left government in 2010 there were 160 police stations operating across London, when the Tories left government in 2024 there were just 36 left

And yet the Conservatives continue to blame Labour (in general) and more specifically Mayor Khan for the mess they set in motion with austerity
