Agreed overall but also a bit of pushback/genuine question: if we lose CDC guidance and it’s up to doctors, my fear is that we are truly then at the mercy of insurance companies. And I’m positive that their bottom line is about profit rather than health. Vaccines are not profitable.

Ideally: That you understand the field and can place your work within it.
Reality: self citation and appeasing reviewers because HOW DARE you fail to include their work.

Nuance issues crop up when data analysis is part of the learning objective. Or if there’s a picture meant to be interpreted for art history or language classes (e.g. you don’t want to give the answer because it spoils the learning objective).

Yes but alt text is not supposed to provide all the educational context. That’s what the class discussion is for.

Accommodations specifically for someone with low vision is a different thing. And not expected to be the norm for all. 2/2

This sounds like part of the new Title II regulations. If so, alt text is not supposed to detail everything. It should provide context for folks using a screen reader so the software knows what to do with the image. While I agree support is needed, it’s not the massive lift that many fear. 1/2

Further digging….its Russia’s version of Air Force One, basically. Flightaware has it listed as “Special Flight Detachment Rossiya 788.” It originated from MSK (Pulkovo) and landed at JFK, had a 2.5 hour (ish) layover and then headed to IAD.
