I think it feels that way because it is! Tech people, broadly, have three options: (1) knuckle under on AI and accept that what they’re doing is now less moral (or wholly immoral); (2) avoid working on it as long as they can (my current strategy); or (3) fight, understanding they might be cooked.

And this has made Trump's major defining feature, his refusal to ever admit he was wrong, his instinct to always double down, a kind of superpower. The media agrees a scandal isn't a scandal if the scandalous individual can't be stopped and doesn't care
