I know it’s an app glitch with the stats, but that time of possession sure *feels* more accurate.
The ESPN Team Stats summary for the Kentucky at Vanderbilt football game, as of the end of the third quarter. Vandy is up 45-3 and is dominating every statistic. (Total yards, for instance, is 517 to 95) Highlighted at the bottom is the time of possession, which is clearly off, as at this point it ought to read a combined 45 minutes. Instead, Vandy has more than 27 minutes, while Kentucky has just 10 seconds. (The actual stats should have read 27:34 to 17:26)
