Reliability cannot be “good” either, unless the items show adequate properties regarding dimensionality, invariance and monotonicity of response categories. Just running alpha does not prove reliability. And yes, most measures have not been properly analyzed/tested. #psychometrics
A key point raised is that while questionnaires often show good reliability, validity has either not been properly tested or has been found to be poor

this means we know that *something* is being consistently measured, but we don't really know what that something is

Maybe, and just hear me out for a moment... National health / human rights / technology legislation shouldn't be based on a poorly researched pop psych book?
Labor’s Social Media Ban for kids bill is a masterclass in incompetence.

The bill tells social media companies to take ‘reasonable steps’ to determine age without ever defining what that means.

That’s not governance, that’s a dereliction of duty.

Look at some of this mess.👇

Harvard Business School prof Francesca Gino was the start of an investigation uncovering a chain of fabricated data.

Worse, Harvard refuses to investigate transparently. With salaries over $300K, shouldn’t we have much stricter quality control?

See @stephaniemlee.bsky.social’s linked post
the fallout from the Francesca Gino research misconduct scandal isn't over. @engber.bsky.social writes about how an effort by some of her colleagues to self-audit their work with her ended up raising even more questions — for them personally and their whole field www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...
