Loutishness is a prerequisite for being a GOP congressperson

I'd say antivax. nimby's are awful but the pernicious effects they cause require lots of bad land use, taxation, and property rights policies from decades ago that are possibly reversible, whereas anti-vax views are easier to spread and metastasize among people on all sides of the political spectrum

From the jump, I don't get the term "islamoleftism" - If they're talking about poorly integrated immigrant communities in Europe from muslim majority countries, "leftist" is an accurate descriptor for <1% of those folks

Most of the blue dogs in congress in 2009/10 were ideologically what we wouldve called moderate republicans, but who could eventually get to a yes for health care and financial regulations. Fundamental issue is actual elected republicans have always been against both so could never actually vote yes

this is a fascination aspect of the subscription newsletter/podcast model, in which you gain the initial audience by writing things that are meant to be of interest to a broad audience, but as your revenue increasingly relies on your subscribers you essentially end up constantly doing fan service

the worst is when you actually successfully complete the plumbing project but the replacement part you purchased from the hardware store was apparently defective when you bought it

There's a decent amount if you follow sickos committee tbf

right, he ran as both a moderate and a reactionary and voters could choose their fighter depending on their personal views. basically no other politician in recent american history has been able to run this way, along with his constant gibberish and ducking of debates etc
November 18, 2025 at 7:55 PM
he also said women need to be punished for abortions, and we have him on video in 2003 saying he was for the iraq war
November 18, 2025 at 7:51 PM
he also constantly said things in direct contradiction to those, his biggest superpower is that he can say diametrically opposed things in a couple of minute span and his audience can take from that the position they like and completely ignore the other things he said

But rather having so much equity in the la liga duopoly and la masia having a second golden age right as they were doing their palanca nonsense
November 18, 2025 at 6:11 PM
For me it's more that I dont think the moderate image is due to his campaigning but rather his image/reputation from his decades in the public eye prior to politics. I'd analogize it to barca over the past half decade or so - the reason they're so good now isnt laporta's brilliant purchases,

Marc's Law all the fucking way down
November 18, 2025 at 5:57 PM
Did he run his campaign as a moderate? The bigger issue seems structural in that his general lunacy never really became a major talking point because of sanewashing by the political press and a complete disinterest in following up of his scandals/incoherence
November 18, 2025 at 5:24 PM
Its fucking dumb because winning elections is a prerequisite for any massive structural change those dinguses propose we enact
November 18, 2025 at 5:02 PM
It was also inflation concerns, iirc gas prices went up something like 25 cents per gallon in october 2021 along with supply chain issues jacking up other prices. Nov 2021 was a terrible dem environment everywhere
November 16, 2025 at 10:35 PM
Yep, part of the problem is that a lot of those groups appear to see other factions of the dem party as just as big a threat as republicans
November 16, 2025 at 10:32 PM
As always, we get back to the common refrain of "who was president in 2020?"

The median american voter, in its infinite wisdom, believed it was biden
November 16, 2025 at 10:26 PM
Recall that during the single debate trump had with kamala that she implored the audience to actually watch one of trumps rallies. She and he campaign were very clear eyed on how much sanewashing the media was doing re: trump
November 16, 2025 at 10:24 PM
Not in a way that a dem congress+president could get away with though, when you consider who comprises the republican coalition and how the media would spin it
November 15, 2025 at 8:06 PM
yep, large swathes of both the moderate/centrist and liberal/left factions of the democratic party are unfortunately unwilling to accept the reality of the actual views/beliefs of the median american voter, and the information environments that lead them to those views and beliefs

My guy Mike saw Jimbo's speedrun his way to a buyout on his second contract and is taking that on as a challenge
November 15, 2025 at 6:28 PM
so this is how mike celebrates his new contract?
