I want to introduce myself to those who don't know me! I go by Quinn or by my dharma name Ikkyu. Some folks call me doc. I'm a psychologist and an ordained zen monk. I like film, idols, anime, vtubers, stuff like that.

When Bodhidharma stood before emperor Wu, he was asked for the essence of Buddhism. Bodhidharma replied, "vast emptiness, nothing holy." People (perhaps futilely) like to talk about the vast emptiness because it's the hip thing. What people talk about less is the nothing holy.

Actually, funny-not-funny story - I finished Final Fantasy 15 around the second anniversary of my fiance's death. At the end (spoilers), Noctis dies and is reunited with his fiance. In my illness, I thought it was a sign that I was supposed to do the same! Didn't pan out, though.

Not too long ago, I met a Theravadin that held monks in high esteem. When they bowed to me, they did so to receive "merit" and for me to bow back would have been considered very rude.
Ah, I can't stand that kind of thing. If you hold someone like me that highly, you've got a serious problem!
