Dad, socialist, aspiring novelist, IT dude and book nerd.
Don't ask me if I'm serious, I can no longer tell.
lol fair enough.

I guess I'm sayin we lose ppl to coonery for some of the same reasons we lose people to crack or how runaways end up with pimps. Someone falls into a dark place and the only ones offering to help are the worst people in the world.

But if so, and just using him as an example, I think it's hard to blame it on "rejection" when 99% of the community had no idea WTF was even happening. You can't get rejected by people who barely know you exist.

And maybe that IS our fault? We need to look out for each other more?

Maybe I'm confused. Didn't this spin out of MAGA hat AI gospel dude? As, you know, a general example along that theme?

If not, I'll STFU.

Because the rejection doesn't necessarily happen at the "community" level. Whatever created this monster, I doubt more than a dozen people were even directly involved in it.

If anything, somebody in the community shoulda peeped that this fool was going off the rails and intervened.

Why? The dude we're talking about IS an outlier. You see a Black man in a MAGA har pushing AI gospel albums for white clout? Something in his life has gone HORRIBLY wrong.

I just think it's more complicated than that, and more universal.

You get rejected by your own tribe for ANY reason, you'll eventually find new one.

Sometimes, that's just a new group of black people. In rare cases, it's weird racist white people who like you because you're useful to them.

And I'm sayin that's not always true. Some families, for whatever reason, DON'T. And something else fills the gap.

You're 100% right that's how it SHOULD work. But some people ARE on bullshit and chronic neglect happens and I would not be shocked to find a correlation there.

Anecdotally: my mom had a nervous breakdown when I was 10 that I don't think she ever recovered from. "
Black excellence extended family said "walk it off." Changed schools 3 times and my peers were my only support system.

If I fell in with the wrong people, I'd be a very different person today.

"Unless" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Some families, your cousins/uncles/aunties are your entire tribe; other families it's "Wow, that's crazy. Okay, see you at the next funeral."

Sometimes both happen in the same family.

100 and 200 respectively.

Captured alive. I'd be AMAZED if he wasn't.

Your point would probably have a bit more weight if the example you were presenting wasn't an arxiv paper.

Peer review aint just a formality.

I've only ever seen it half an hour at a time. Always on in the background at somebody's house on thanksgiving.
