An open source zealot^W pragmatic enthusiast often found chasing squirrels down rabbit holes.
Looking at the forecast for tomorrow morning, I have thoughts about maybe WFH tomorrow.

I imagine the plumbers, FENZ and council folk being quite busy, so I do have some guilt that my job allows me to WFH (even if tomorrow is usually a coffee and office day for me).

It's gonna be easier to clear my study out so I can refinish my desk (fill, sand, re-oil) while it is still in the study.

I'm going to have to have some words with past me without future me hearing about the stuff that has been collected because it 'will' be useful.

Day 2 of #FebruDRY
Today was one of those days when "and this is why I drink" was dropped into chat .. more than once. But no Ian, don't let the madness get to you.

Went for a walk (picked blackberries), hit the gym, mowed the lawn .. nice warm day for a beer .. alas day 1 of #FebruDRY

NZ taxpayers spent $6M to bring Michelin stars here and only paid $3M to the WHO.
Contributing to world health seems like a much better spend to me. #nzpol

I have many regrets not getting in on KiwiSaver when it first came out (or even in the first 10 years), I thought throwing money at my mortgage was smarter.

KiwiSaver or your house - which is likely to give better investment returns?
While people are often told house prices double every 10 years that hasn't been the case since 2015, an expert says.

I'd hate to think the increasingly rogue state that is USA gets upset that we are holding and stealing 'their' oil and/or gas.

Anyone about for a wee drink?

Last day of work for the year and my team has already scattered.

Well, I hadn't expected to be wanting to turn the heat pump on at this time of the year!

Maybe I should have got it serviced last month when the error message popped up.

On one hand the CoC say they care about tourism as a money earner for Aotearoa, and on the other hand their attitude shows they don't give a shit that their policies are going to destroy it. www.rnz.co.nz/news/environ...
Climate change could claim nearly all of NZ's glaciers, research shows
At the current rate of global warming, just a few hundred of the country's 3000 glaciers could remain by the end of the century.

The problem with being useless sellouts is that even if you're subtly teasing incrementalism, no-one trusts you to follow through.

So I'll be voting for an actual wealth tax, to whack the rich and get real money. Labour's CGT can be a transitional tool, but I want real tax.
