I think the best way to run the Windows apps that are so deeply entrenched in Window-land that they cannot run under WINE is to virtualize Windows, Classic Environment style

“Repaired” the control panel on my teacher’s microwave oven by rubbing it with my thumb and applying pressure.
It got the stop button and the +30 seconds button working again, which was enough to prevent the thing from getting thrown out.

Currently fixing an IBM Correcting Selectric III, I lost one of the "typeball" control cables in a minor electrical accident, one of them snapped, and the pinion spring got completely ruined.
