BREAKING from PP

We found immigration agents have held more than 170 *citizens*

The govt doesn't track citizens held. So we did. We tallied:

Nearly 20 kids, two w/ cancer

More than 20 citizens held for day or more, incommunicado

We argue that we can think about the start of a new collective ritual as a Stag Hunt Game. But a frequency-independent payoff is needed to get it going. In our case, perceived miracles is such a mechanism!

My favorite part of @nicolasrestrepo.bsky.social 's model is that it provides a theoretically cogent account of why uncertainty is associated with the emergence (and stabilization) of new rituals without assuming specific psychological needs (e.g. for certainty).

And they want to vote on it TODAY.

Trump is jamming through a bill that rips away health care, closes hospitals, raises grocery and utility bills to give tax breaks to billionaires.

Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop!

Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels
"No Kings Day" protests turn out millions
Our unofficial estimate is that around 4 million people attended a protest event yesterday. Anti-Trump resistance is outpacing 2017.

A great introduction to some of the current threats to higher education in the US for anyone who hasn't been paying close attention to this catastrophe.
Universities are places of learning, yes. But they’re also so many other things. Including: science labs. Many of which get federal money for research. That system’s been going on for decades.
