Pixel botherer and waveform worrier. Keen TTRPG player and GM. Plays guitar and synths.
I think the fact that this one is a talkie helps it quite a lot, though I did love the ultra-stylised nature of Call.

Having finished it, I'm really impressed with it on a whole bunch of levels. The level of craft is excellent.

I have, and I enjoyed it a lot. I think I might like this one just a little more though. I feel like they stretched their (hideous, batlike) wings a bit

Excellent, looks like I’m batting well above average.

I'd love to go there - a friend of mine works art department there, I'm kinda jealous!

Red Rocks is not massive capacity -about 10K I think - but the setting is truly spectacular. Desert rather than sea!

One day I will tell you the long story about when I played there. In the car park. A sad tale!

RATM on their very first UK tour, hence the tiny sweaty venue. Never seen Edward’s so packed. It was the week before the 1st album was released in the UK. Genuinely remarkable gig, it was really obvious they were going to be massive.

Actually cooler IRL I think. It’s an amazing venue. Seen Tool and Chemical Brothers and a few others there as well. Beautiful

That is incredibly heartwarming and impressively on-brand! Sounds like a lovely day!

Also, bonus random gig: Cliff Richard in the 1980s, not entirely by choice

I’ve seen three of those bands multiple times, though. But which three?

I think all his stuff is available as ebooks, though it’s hard to find in print. The Death of Malygris is a fun story in a Too Many Wizards sort of way. All his stories are pretty short; I’d say just dive in!

Tbf I haven’t read any of the Zothique or Averoigne stories. I have an old paperback of Lost Worlds v2 that I got for £1. It’s got Hyperborea, Atlantis and Xiccarph in it. Really need to track down more of his stuff but it’s out of print :(

I did see a copy for sale that was owned by HPL - £40,000!

See, I’m such a dumbass I’d have remembered the hat and the got halfway up the hill without the dog. Think you’re winning there with the improvised headgear

Dunsany yes, but not familiar with Cabell yet - looking forward to reading him!

Sadly I do not!

I am fortunate in that I am at this point quite immune to stage fright

Apart from needing to pee every five minutes in the hour before going on stage

Tanith Lee is another post-Tolkien writer who did this really well. She's very much worth checking out.
