i agree with this
People are calling this “lazy” which I think is kind of missing what’s going on here. Increasingly convinced that the comparable technology, in how it interacts with the human nervous system, is the slot machine.

Absolutely! Weird magic adds mystery! Think of Ursula K. Le Guin's "Earthsea"—magic is tied to the true names of things. It feels alive! What’s your favorite unconventional magic? 🪐📚 #Fantasy #Magic
Which is something I love! I actually hate magic systems that are overly formalised and categorised. You might as well be writing science fiction at that point. Magic should be *weird*

So I've been reading a bunch of Clark Ashton Smith lately (because I am very interested in fantasy written before Tolkien loomed over the entire genre) and he's so good. Just fantastic stuff. I am, however, rather sad that he only wrote two stories about the asshole sorcerer Maal Dweb, he's great

What a delightful thing to read on a morning where I was already fretting about my apparently stalled artistic career! Unfortunately true though

Wonderfully creepy game run by @torenielsen.bsky.social tonight - @dozy139.bsky.social @andyhemming.bsky.social and I had a great time being sketchy pill runners in the haunted woods of Maine!

In honour of Dr Who's 62nd anniversary, we watched The Horror of Fang Rock tonight.

By far the most Lovecraftian episode, I reckon, and the fact that everybody dies apart from the Doctor and Leela really sells it

I'm watching The Great Lebowski and it's such a clever film, I love it. Just a delight to watch.

Beautifully filmed as well, one of Deakin's masterpieces

My plan for leaving early from band practice was rather foiled by leaving my phone in a soundproof room with three very noisy men. Good job I could make it beep weirdly with my watch until they noticed and let me have it back!

Helped that it was right next to a mic with a bunch of delay on it

Ukraine is on the brink of an historic betrayal by Trump to Putin.

Keir Starmer must bring our European allies together to back Zelensky, starting by seizing frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.

We're off to Australia in Masks of Nyarlathotep, and approaching the end of the campaign. I am gonna inflict the worst possible Australian accents on my players and I make no apologies for that

I am absolutely loving the new version of “There Is No Antimemetics Division”. All the changes are very much for the better. Shockingly good book

Speaking of Fallout New Vegas: I dunno whether Mr House will be alive in the new season, or just a replica; but I do know he’s the character in FNV that most aligns with the story they’re trying to tell, so it would be insane for the writers to not use him just bc it will make insane FNV fans angry

It took a little bit for it to click but I am currently loving The Outer Worlds 2. Quirky characters, excellent dialogue, lovely scenery and shooting things is fun.

An excellent explanation as to why this flyer is complete dogshit
Okay, I can't let this one go. I live in Ireland, not the UK, but the use of this image by a supposedly socialist party is so stupid and offensive, I'm going to get stuck in.

Let me explain to you why any experienced illustrator/designer could have stopped you making so many miserable mistakes. 1/

Just read The Discovery of the Ghooric Zone by Richard Lupoff - a short story - and I'm rather blown away by it. I think I need to track some more of his work down. Lovecraft in Space! In 1977!
