I just pictured James Rolfe doing Sunshine’s Rakugo schtick and you’ve made an enemy of me this day for forcing that thought into my head.

I just think people need to stop trying to play every game like they're ordering a burger. Engage with the thing, learn, adapt, challenge your preferences, open yourself to an experience and be honest about how it makes you feel.

There's lots of games that to this day are looked at as bad because it was agreed more by critics then by users they were bad. People ignored them or parroted unfair talking points. Heck there's some hardly talked about at all that slowly people are coming around to, 3D Castlevania, Breath of Fire 5

We would obviously get the odd game like Superman 64 thats just miserable to try and work through, but Splatterhouse, Bionic Commando, Genji, Pokemon Colosseum, Vampire Rain, Bulletwitch, WET, these were all games we really enjoyed that got terrible terrible reviews.

This is also pretty directly negative to the people who like the thing. It sets it up as overrated slop without any real substance to the argument.

And if the secondary point is “If I don’t like musou games, now I know I won’t like this musou game” like buddy you had to read the review. If a positive review is “this does musou stuff” it’s doing the same job without being overly negative and scaring away neutrals.
