PhD Science staff mom of 1 8yo and 1 research lab. I like bioscience, art, cooking & cats. Usually tired. Perimenopausal. Critical patriot bisexual. She/her. Mostly harmless.
He’s been hiding from my phone but will let me pet him. 🤔 dunno what’s up with that.

The pregnant little girl popped out of our cat shelter this morning, which made me smile. She still runs from me, but with less panic. Fingers crossed.

Good morning!

I haven’t been baiting the cat trap since the weather has been a bit wet and cold. We’ll see what this evening brings.

The good news is that Mr GOAT is back! Poor dude has his nuts shaved in the 40 degree nights but otherwise looks like he’s recovering nicely.

Any #scientists or #histologists recognize these cabinets? I think they were designed to store microscope slides, but not sure. Saw them in the metal recycling area this morning. #science

Mom’s Christmas present this year. A queen size pillowcase.

No Dipshit Award today, as I was rather tired after kiddo’s karate upgrade exam. She’s one test away from a red belt now in Tang Soo Do. I’m so proud.

I did see Snowball this morning, of course. This shy kitty face is the pregnant female. She has vibrant white around dark gray spots, &

I have just the thing at home!

No Dipshit Award today. Just a scared juvenile possum. It would be interesting if I could have marked him somehow to see if he becomes a repeat offender or has siblings… but alas.
😅

This handsome fellow currently
Goes by Mr GOAT, though in the year I’ve known him he has had several nicknames.

At first he was Mr Noisy, because he would stay well away from me & complain loudly. I would talk to him and over about 6 months he got closer & I risked petting him. He liked it.

Frito, a target of someone who wants his nutsack emptied. Poor Frito.

In case anyone was worried about Dancer, here she is recuperating from her trauma. I think she’ll be ok. 😆

Here’s Dancer, who was caught and fixed 3 years ago. She wins the first DipShit Award of this cycle. 🤣🤣🤣
Hopefully being stuck for hours was a good learning experience.

Accidental silly face.

Two four hour car rides of Lazy Daisy stitch on Mom’s Christmas present. A sunbonnet pillowcase.

If you were wondering what line stitching with “friendship bracelet” floss looks like, here you are! 😆

Embroidery update. Still fun.

I was thinking something like the cushion here.

I fixed poor kitty’s Skeletor face.

Debating dark green pumpkin ribs or black pumpkin ribs. I can’t find thinner black embroidery floss atm, so the black would be the same weight as the ghost stitching. I do have a nice dark green for the pumpkin stem.

Opinions?

Towel updated: still fun and not done yet. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do the nose over black or black around nose, hence the face being weird.

I’m excited for October and Halloween this year. Not sure why, but it’s happy making. 🦇

I hope it washes out with time.

Cat model is unimpressed. (Depicted resting on husbeast)

I found this in the garage when I was looking for something else, and decided to finish it. Colonial Patterns dishtowel, cotton floss, a sunbonnet girl sitting and embroidering. Nearby, an embroidered gray cat has pounced on a string. Satin, stem, split, chain, and back stitches. Sending to Mom.

Sleepy scientist realized she was balancing Jello samples for the nonexistent centrifuge run, laughs at self.

The thick soup and grits. Indian stews sometimes don’t look like much, but the squash, chickpeas, potato and tomatoes are delicious. With grits it even counts as 3 sisters. :D
