An ‘outcome based’ action by CEOs to make Minnesota and its people whole
I’ve long been of the mind that my own soul is derived from within me, has been and continues to be written—and revised—on a daily basis, by my own hand and my own actions. Each of us is every day given an opportunity to write that soul story, which I take to mean the expansion of the feeling of whatever it is that my heart is capable of feeling.

Minneapolis should press its momentum and demand not only withdrawal but start talking about the need for immediate reparations, loudly, with the total certainty that only winners have. "You have wronged us terribly and must pay recompense" and let them argue the second part.

Do not fall for this garbage. DHS came into my city with an offensive posture, conducted itself as an invader, often attacked residents without any plausible connection to immigration enforcement, violently seized people off the streets. Now it’s our fault people died?
Homan: "I begged for the last two months on TV for the rhetoric to stop. I said in March -- if the rhetoric doesn't stop, there is gonna be bloodshed. And there has been. I wish I wasn't right. I don't want to see anybody die."

After executing Alex Pretti on Saturday, ICE has shifted to primarily targeting bus stops and elementary schools in my community this week. I cannot overstate how much of the ICE activity in my community is just targeting places where little kids are.
Video from this morning shows ICE agents deploying tear gas outside a Minneapolis preschool as parents shout, “This is a preschool! There’s kids here!”

Kat Abughazaleh doesn't just influence the Overton Window; when she speaks she sits in the driver's seat of the Overton Window. She has shaped this race and shows the dedication & awareness to shape the national conversation. We're all done with the chickenshits; Kat meets the moment.
ICE does not need more training. They’re doing exactly what they’re trained to do.

Democrats cannot vote for a single cent to ICE.

I wrote a commentary today for the Star Tribune. If it resonates, send it, share it. I'll post on my blog for free later (but throw the Strib some $$ if you can afford it—they're doing some good home state reporting). #iceout of #minneapolis www.startribune.com/mn-ceos-lett...
Opinion | To the 60-plus Minnesota CEOs: Many thanks for your nothingburger PR statement
As thousands of Minnesotans marched in protest of ICE in subzero temps, big business leaders drafted a milquetoast PR message of nothingness, Adam Overland writes.

I gathered tonight w/ other highly paid violent rioters at the site of the murder of Alex Pretti where we did violent things like sing songs with about love & respect and being there for one another. And we said goodbye to a man who dedicated his life to caring for others #iceout #minneapolis

A dozen years ago, I posted a picture on Facebook of two city workers in safety vests using blowtorches to heat asphalt for pothole repairs on the streets of Minneapolis, streets that crack and heave in the frigid winter temperatures in a neverending battle against mother nature. This year, on Friday, Jan. 23, I gathered in downtown Minneapolis with about 40,000 others in what was claimed as the first general strike in America in 80 years.

I go to the Costco Business Center in Northeast Minneapolis; they don’t have quite everything you need (similar to Aldi, where you can save a fortune on most of your list, then get gouged for the rest elsewhere), but the crowds are manageable.

First, the most important part of this piece is at the end. Go there now. Second, last weekend at Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis, I attended the protest/memorial for Renee Good who was murdered by the United States government in Minneapolis. It was my third time protesting in my 48 years, my third also within the last eight months. It was the first time I made a sign, although in truth, all I did was think of a couple slogans (friends made them), one of which was “

You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.

This could be you.

2025 was not, overall, a terrible year for me, though I know that it has been for so many. One of the benefits of keeping a blog is that you can look back on it (as well as the writings you didn’t make public) and review your life, like a glorified diary (though little glory, at that). If you’re like me, you might otherwise be prone to look on the dark side of things and conveniently forget the rest.
