Hopeful climate article of the week. Even if the USA and EU aren't serious, it seems the rest of the world is. www.science.org/content/arti...
Solar is coming. Now we "just" need a storage solution.

Just a little reinforcement about why the EU's move on EVs is so dumb. Not only is it going to be bad for the European auto-industry, it's also damaging just about the most cost effective climate mitigation you can do.
The report is long (LONG) but worth a read.

Another bit of coverage for what we're at with Go Eve and DockChain.
A nice interview too, I think, by George Morahan.

One of the most unexpected climate-change reduction strategies I've ever heard of. Apparently, the contrails caused by high flying jets contribute to global warming and can be damn-near eliminated by slightly changing where planes fly.

I'm sure it's possible to to both of these things.
1. Make a good joke about Xmas Eve and Go Eve.
2. Make a half-decent AI-sourced Xmas video about DockChain and Santa.

I haven't managed either.
Nonetheless, I hope you all have a great break over the holidays.

Given that a lot of people consider a dog for Xmas, two thoughts.
1. Don't. At least not because it's Xmas
2. If you do, then adopt, don't shop.

I would tend to regard a self-driving product that doesn't stop at traffic lights or stops signs to be somewhat incomplete. Less even than an MVP.

A potential level at which to morally rank the series of FF and FG governments that have created and maintained the housing crises in Ireland.

They make DJ Carey look like a great chap entirely. Is that about right?

Contradicts the judge a bit.

Chatting about AIs last night and seeing some interesting posts about inter-AI competition today....and I thought of the whole "what is consciousness?" question again. I suspect it's something really pretty basic. But hey, what do I know?

This is a terrible idea. And one that even the established EU car-makers will almost certainly come to regret - at least in the absence of other later additional measures to support them.

The whole idea of "Digital Transformation" and the excuses people make for not doing it both came up in conversation while I was in Detroit last week. Here's a little polemic I wrote on the topic several years ago.

He beat me to it. I was going to bring in Erdos and Linus Torvalds....just for fun. Now all I'm left with is a different Linus.

Clearly, it won't change anyone's mind. Clearly, it should.
Sadly, I know there are many apparently intelligent people and this will bounce righth off them.

He is funny. There is, sadly, a significant chunk of British people equally deluded. Most, to be fair, are up to date. But there is - as this eminent British historian said - a residue.

Yeah. They do.

Not exactly the weather you'd prefer for installing DockChain as part of a charging system, but you take what you get and you make it work. Detroit in December.

A climate change side-effect I hadn't really thought of. Hail. More damage in the USA than floods and hurricanes combined!

My skepticism about "Agile" is well known. This report (see image) was linked from a recent IEEE article on failures in software projects. It suggests that I'm right about "Agile".
The IEEE article is here. It's quite serious, even a bit dull.

Are there new ways of evading the often enormous basic physical (i.e. physics) issues that would make an orbiting data center seriously tricky, and I've somehow missed them? Power, latency, cooling, maintenance (let's ignore installation), hard radiation, etc.

I made pasta carbonara the classic Italian way the other day. No cream. Just eggs and cheese. Bloody lovely. And a doddle to make. Why did I not learn this recipe before?
December 3, 2025 at 3:15 PM
Seems a simple question. What's the answer where you work?
December 2, 2025 at 10:04 PM
Pleased to be featured in Business Plus this week. Lots of people out there doing good work on EV charging and - in general - on solving the energy issues and climate change

What we've been doing in Go Eve aims - above all else - at making the EV transition easier. And it does.

Xiaomi has gotten to 500,000 cars in a fraction of the time taken by any other automaker, ever. Leapmotor got from 500,000 to 1,000,000 faster than any other automaker, ever. You might not even ever have heard of Leapmotor.

The EV revolution is not coming. It's here.

The British OS? Ha. You really are deluded. Them too. It's not 1910.

It's simple. Ireland is not British. Ireland is not a British Isle. Ireland is not one of the British Isles. Ireland is not in the British Isles. You'll get over it
