Watching the racist loons in the UK talking about how they aim to save the British Isles, it seems particularly timely to repeat a simple fact you may not be aware of.

Ireland is not a British isle.

Why Ireland is not a British isle
A brief history of Ireland and why it is not a British isle.

A nice piece of coverage in a national newspaper in Ireland (the Irish Examiner) about what we're at with Go Eve and DockChain.

And in some ways, presenting warts and all, some of the best ever celebrations of the USA.

Whatever about Bad Bunny, my first (inaccurate) introduction to the very notion of Puerto Rico was in West Site Story, written by New York Jews and containing some of the best tunes ever. Culturally accurate? I imagine not. Absolute bangers? Hell yes.

Sometime people are the people we wish people were.
This teenager saved his neighbor's dog from drowning in a freezing pond. This is Bernard. His family contacted emergency services right away, but high school senior Hugh Pinneo got to Bernard first. Hugh said he's "just glad I acted that day and saved the dog's life." We are too. 12/10 for all

I think I failed on that 2nd part.

Well, it can answer basic questions about how DockChain works and its benefits. You should be able to try it soon! If you want advance access, let me know!

And yeah, AI is relevant even at our scale.

Getting close to finalizing our "DockChain Assistant". Fairly simple as AIs go, but at the same time it actually gets things right and it occasionally tells me things where I realize even I hadn't thought of that. What can it do?

And LA's air quality is still usually outside WHO guidelines...often by big margins. There are still lots of reasons to electrify transport.
February 10, 2026 at 1:31 PM
One of the impressive things in LA in recent years is the comparative absence of smog. Anyone who was there a few decades ago remembers it, though you need to be properly old to remember the worst of it. In any case, the improvement has been impressive.

Gemini (or any other LLM) can describe DockChain quite well. And that's great. The concern about LLMs for regulated industries is that the description is never QUITE the same two times in a row. Still, a good description of DockChain is nice!

Anyone who ever had an intelligent breed of dog in the house probably isn't surprised.

Increasingly, the answer seems to be "Yeah, kinda".
Now you're probably not going to get poetry, but it seems increasingly clear that dogs can not just understand words, but can use words themselves. And smarter dogs seem to be using multi-word combinations.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I had to extend my stay in LA.

This or Dalkey. Hmmm.

This is not a political post. I just want to point out that a lot of business people speak in exactly this way. Instead of plain language, this is what they sound like. What's the motivation? Do people perceive this kind of language as "sounding clever"?

While I can't be 100% sure, I believe the Hummer that we charged today in LA was the first one on DockChain. (stock photo from GMC). It ran quite well.

Off to the US of A for a few days. You'll never guess where.

Two videos commenting on AI. One rather serious and informative which concludes that no, TSMC is not killing AI.
The other is a nice funny yet commentary on what AI doesn't do. Both good and bad.

Gotta say that I don't find any of this comical.

Not on my part. And I doubt it's a skills issue on his part either.

It's still not an answer in simple language.
February 1, 2026 at 3:07 AM
No. It's really not.

What it is, is not simple language in answer to the question.

Maybe the next set will use vertical panels and then the land can be used for solar and farming.

As for the robots, let's see how Tesla and Boston Dynamics (Kia) and Xiaomi and the rest do too.
