Everything is better with Old Bay | Maryland stuff | nonprofits | education | animal welfare | occasional theme park nonsense | I play with my food.

BG photo is Lake Eibsee in Germany.
It's stupid cold today.

I'll vote for the candidate who can get me a 10 year loan on a WDW vacation.

Wendy’s plans to close hundreds of its restaurants in an effort to 'boost its profit and make its remaining stores more appealing'

Hoo boy.
Tim Kaine on backlash he's getting: "I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct 1, b/c I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed fed worker would say to me at church, or what somebody would say about SNAP"

I think you can be happy that the shutdown will end and people will get paid and families will be fed while still thinking the way it ended was a slap in the face to those same people who gave up the most and will continue to be squeezed moving forward. Life isn't one giant binary choice.

This is the type of night where I have zero patience for the "20K following/20K followers" crowd.

Whatever consultant got paid millions of dollars to tell these guys to say "healthcare" reflexively every time the shutdown is mentioned should be shunned for eternity and/or fired into the sun.
REPORTER: When you get to a shutdown, what's the plan to get out of it?

SCHUMER: It's in the Republicans' court. Let me just say -- the American people are learning how bad this healthcare crisis is and they will put tremendous heat on Republicans to solve it.

Concepts of a vote
King: So I believe that we are closer tonight to a vote on the ACA tax credits than we were this morning. This agreement tonight is a win for the American people.

Not a single one of the eight up for reelection this coming cycle. 🤔
THE FOLLOWING DEMOCRATIC SENATORS VOTE “YES” ON THE CONTINUING RESOLUTION IN EXCHANGE FOR NOTHING:

Incredible stuff.
Durbin is a YES on this deal: “At Democrats’ urging, today’s bill is not the same one we’ve voted down 14 times. Republicans finally woke up and realized their Groundhog Day needed to end. This bill is not perfect, but it takes important steps to reduce their shutdown’s hurt.”

I’ve voted 7 times to reopen the government in a way that holds Trump accountable for his lawlessness and prevents a health care crisis.

I’m prepared to work toward a compromise, but this “deal” before us does not come close to meeting those terms. Voting NO.

I would have just taken the Zima. Masterful negotiating. Someone deserves a raise.
shutdown deal per AXIOS:

republicans get: government reopens and party avoids political consequences for refusing to make health care affordable

democrats get: seven beans, an old case logic CD wallet (empty), a coupon for 15% off Busch Gardens, one spiced pumpkin scented candle, a 6-pack of Zima

Ben Sinnott just did the Trump dance after scoring a TD. Pain.
November 10, 2025 at 12:08 AM
Great day for the "shut up and dribble" crowd.
Fox gives Trump a platform during their NFL broadcast to peddle his absurd lies about "prices are coming way down", "we inherited a mess," and "our country has over $17 trillion being invested in it." Absolutely shameful for all involved.
