In the past, I’ve seen budgies endure a lot of unpleasantness at the hands of ppl who were suppose to love and care for them.

the only good thing about genAI is that it got me to really love seeing bad art, because I know a person put in time and effort, made themselves vulnerable by showing it to others, and is trying to improve. I value that more than anything now

Mo Ran was so annoying the first book that I was hoping that Shi Mei would poison those wontons or that Xue Meng would push him off a cliff.
Almost halfway through v.1 now and everyone seems awful except Shi Mei who is perfect. This seems a reflection of Mo Ran’s own understanding of people and the world, most especially himself—he is described as vulgar, awful and cruel over and over again, and that matches his internal sense of self.
