Absolutely, all they have to do is go slightly wider, avenue them with trees, a tiny little bit of ornamentation and spacing from the the road, and they're instantly upgraded from just plonking down a line of boxes. It could be done so easily

I think for planning the layouts they just get some little green monopoly houses, throw them on a piece of paper, then draw lines round them for the roads. I can't see any other reason they'd be so inhuman. Half the time I wish they'd just build rows of terraces, at least the plan would make sense

We could have good looking buildings everywhere if we actually gave a shit about the way our villages/towns/cities looked but I guess instead we can build a load of detached cheap brick houses and leeds-style "modern" featureless blocks of flats and wonder why nowhere has any identity of its own

So much of what gets built is pure architectural dreck and maybe not everywhere has to be ugly; we can do good looking and affordable houses (hell, why not build on an almshouse type plan again?) but developers choose not to because money

Also everything in the past decade+ deciding all genres now need RPG mechanics shoved into them. Levelling! Progression! Skill trees!! I can't escape!!! Maybe add some survival crafting mechanics!!! Fun!
I think I'll go back to playing the same 3 games I always do and give this lot another 10 years
