I feel really sad, like I'm mourning a life I might have had had things been different, but I cannot imagine what that life would have looked like. It feels silly to mourn a thing I cannot imagine, yet here I am.

Like, I am certain that she has ADHD as well. Neurodivergency does run in her side of the family. There are "odd ones" in every generation going back to at least between the wars, yet if anyone had/s a diagnosis it wasn't talked about. I actually doubt that anyone older than me got diagnosed.

During the reflection, I had the realisation that how my meltdown was manifesting - getting mentally frazzled by a sudden addition to the routine I had planned and knee-jerk getting snippy - was exactly how my mother would act with me as a kid whenever I interrupted what she was doing.

Totally! It is kinda a shame that her first big film was Watchmen, as I think that rather held her back some.
