I love Small Gods. It feels to me like the moment where Pratchett shifted from a Douglas Adams “Ha ha, everything’s dumb and pointless!” style to the “I’m going to be utterly absurd and deadly serious AT THE SAME TIME” approach that gave his later works such moral weight.
