The profit motive is at the heart of every single stupid, unnecessary change to the things you use. Capitalists can't increase their profits by making something that works well and keeping it the same, so they endlessly "innovate" to Make The Line Go Up
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

At a certain point, some stuff just can't be meaningfully improved. Fridges and washing machines do what they're supposed to. Shoving computers into them is scraping at fractional, hollow gains. Meanwhile, the global south is looted for minerals and our landfills overflow, and we're still unhappy!

They use ads to convince people that this flashy new change will improve their lives, and people's lives are miserable so they buy the thing in the hope that it might fill the hole in their heart caused by capitalism in the first place.

Obviously I’m not saying people shouldn’t fight this, in fact I think we all have an obligation to. But it’s actually clarifying, I think, to start from the reality that Dems actively do not want to do the things that we want them to do. They love ICE, fracking, the $1T military, and tech money.
