Bass is NIMBY not really because she’s a moderate, but because she represents LA, the beating heart of anti-housing politics in California. I wouldn’t raise my hopes up about a progressive either, for this reason.

I really loath The Economist for making this chart. It’s an extremely compelling narrative, but would run into issues if a schizophrenia miracle drug was approved in the mid 1950’s, which… is exactly when the first antipsychotic came onto the market
