End language deprivation, ASL professor, reduce trash, read banned books,
So please, don’t ask me if it’s “acceptable” for non-signers to use voices.
Ask instead — what about me? Why am I the one who always has to ask for accessibility that should already be there? 2/2

Why is ASL so often treated like a stepping stone to English rather than a legitimate, vital first language?

You’ve seen the difference. You’ve seen Deaf students finally come alive—when they have access to ASL. When they are seen. When their language is respected. 5/5

Why did you force Deaf children to navigate two distinct languages—ASL and English—as if they were the same, while society refused to support true bilingual education? 4/5

You chose Signed English. Why? Because it was easier for you to teach? More comfortable for the system? Even though you’ve witnessed, again and again, how Deaf students flourish when you communicate with them in ASL—not in artificial signs that only mimic English. 3/5

You knew. You saw it happen again and again—Deaf children, especially those born to hearing parents (90% of us), entering kindergarten without a first language. No foundation. No way to fully express ourselves. And yet, so often, you let it go. 2/5
