Well it's not a direct rise on the tax itself. It's a freezing of the bands at which it's applied, so it allows them to lie and say they haven't increased it.

Yeah, someone lovely, but not quite the right fit is really tricky to handle and a bit "awwww". But lovely + good = makes it all worthwhile.

The majority of Labour MPs were spineless enough to support it though. And the ones that opposed it back in 2015 and in 2024 have by and large been ousted from the party. Labour are truly fucking shit. Why defend them?
