Cisgender trans inclusive feminist. I have no money. Please don't ask.
Pretending that transphobia has anything to do with women's rights actively legitimises transphobia.

I don't understand this rhetoric about 'balancing' rights. Or the fact that even quite liberal MPs pretend that the 'gender critical' hate movement represent all women.

It's fucking insulting all round.

There really aren't that many TERFs in the UK. It is nonsensical that the EHRC are proposing costly infrastructure changes, and wholesale, (physically dangerous) discrimination against innocent people, in order to placate a handful of delusional, bigoted idiots.
December 11, 2025 at 11:31 AM
The rights of women and trans people are not in conflict.

As a cis woman, this framing is both inaccurate and offensive.

Transphobe and woman are not synonyms.

And as you yourself acknowledge, trans people factually pose zero threat to cis people.

It is a clear cut issue.

Transphobic 'gender critical' activists are irrational, aggressive liars and Labour should have put a stop to their harassment months ago.
December 11, 2025 at 11:26 AM
Transphobia isn't a 'culture war'. It's a baseless, irrational personal prejudice.
December 11, 2025 at 11:25 AM
I still don't understand why we have to 'balance' the rights of irrational bigots with the rights of trans people - who factually aren't harming anyone.

Pretending that 'gender critical belief' (transphobia) is an acceptable view is completely unworkable.

2/ The former Chair of the EHRC can grind her axe in the press all she likes, but these rulings drive a coach and horses through her unworkable, unfair, and potentially unlawful guidance. They also show the Secretary of State is absolutely right to seek her own legal advice.

I'm extremely disappointed that Bridget Phillipson chose to insult feminists and LGBTQ people by appointing another 'gender critical' transphobe to this important role.

It makes a mockery of human rights.

The fact that Peggie lost 43 out of 47 points in her case means that transphobic companies should be very wary of attempting to apply the EHRC's unlawful guidance.

And that HR need to apply extra diligence to 'gender critical' cases in order to avoid vexatious lawsuits.
December 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
I take the point and defer to her legal expertise.

But I think it's important to recognise the gap between correct legal terminology and public perception.

The media framing made people think Peggie had won overall. That was deliberately misleading, and unacceptable.

My one major criticism is framing Ms Ludwig as some sort of neutral equality law expert when she is a gender critical campaigner who has written for GC blogs/organisations.
December 11, 2025 at 8:55 AM
Yeah, this may be correct in legal terms. But the media are well aware that this framing will make readers think Peggie won overall, not that she achieved a minor procedural win.

There seems to be an enormous gap between legal nomenclature and common language perception.

Loved it! Think it might be a cosy Christmas re-read.

Why though? I'm not trying to be rude.

I genuinely want to understand why losing 91% of a case is considered any kind of victory.
December 11, 2025 at 9:41 AM
In most contexts, losing 43 / 47 points is considered a drastic loss. Framing it as a victory seems ridiculous. Especially as no-one is reporting a victory for Beth Upton.

And framing the ruling as having supported a bathroom ban - as the Guardian headline did - is actively dishonest.

Oh absolutely - even herbal tea's a bit wired.

I can't always tell people's gender from usernames online.

The first time a TERF said, "What if I have to wash my bloodied underwear in the sink," I thought, that has to be a man.

I have never, ever met or seen a woman who has done this.
