People should get more comfortable with saying "I don't know" or "I don't have an opinion on that" if they actually don't know or don't have an opinion. Ex. What's your favorite movie? "I don't know" Red Sox or Yankees? "I don't have an opinion on that"

Also, it's not about how small or visible the presence is. It's that they are there in the first place. In 2020 roughly 75,000 National Guard were mobilized across the country, mostly for Covid 19 assistance but at least 17,000 for BLM protests. The difference being that this was done by governors

The problem of current national guard mobilizations is that they aren't being done with the cooperation of local political entities (States or Cities). That's the problem Yglesias. Not how large or small the footprint is
