1% haterade // 39% property taxes are too low // 40% about infrastructure lifecycle budgeting // 15% anti-Stitch & other megaprojects // 5% trying to make the term “BeltLine St” happen.
Happy Thanksgiving, especially the Real Ones who remember the true reason for the season:

If you were wondering, yes, civil engineers tests a bag of concrete by stabbing it with a knife and taking a lil bump of the cement powder the same way DEA agents test the white bricks they find during a bust.

Crossing the street in the suburbs f#cking sucks.

This is dope as hell. New apartments in BeltLine-adjacent Ormewood Park are have partnered with Edison to offer FREE E-BIKES to new residents.

If anyone ever asks where Buckhead starts and stops, show them this map wow.

Tax breaks are public spending! And we already spend SOOOO much subsidizing old rich people’s housing.

Love that the mayor’s campaign lot includes his kickoff of the pothole posse outside my house where I showed up and said “I didn’t know there was a pothole here.”

If any of you nerds are going to this groundbreaking, someone please ask ATLDOT if the plans have been adjusted to reflect MARTA’s NextGen. Older South Boulevard plans showed dedicated bus stations, but my understanding is MARTA is eliminating this route.

One of the craziest parts of NIMBYism is the claim they want to “preserve neighborhood character” but if you visit any random neighborhood that predates silly zoning rules, it’s absolutely ~d~r~i~p~p~i~n~g~ with character.

PS yes, I know making this point with Savannah pics is almost cheating.

Only 4 lbs of shrimp per year is honestly rookie numbers.

If Atlanta is a group project, TADs (and basically anything calling itself “economic development “) are the group member showing up at the end taking credit for everyone else’s work.

Honestly, every civil engineer’s worst nightmare.

Exurban sprawl developers LOVE to name a multi-big box project “Town Center” and then it’s a 4 mile, fully 90 minute walk including an interstate crossing from the actual town center.

This is NUTS. The reason the old Hand in Hand has been sitting empty for so long is because it’s a f#cking money laundering scheme for a f#cking Russian oligarch!

One of the dirty secrets in ATL urban planning is that traffic is down (WAY down in some cases) despite adding tens of thousands of new residents. Here’s a pic of me easily riding my bike down the center lane of Peachtree during Monday rush hour, and there are more pedestrians than car drivers.

Today in saying the quiet part out loud, the incumbent land owners in Chosewood Park are furious about affordable housing coming to their neighborhood and are publicly calling for more gentrification:

GDOT publishes annual traffic counts, and almost everywhere in CoA, traffic is down SIGNIFICANTLY since 2017 as more Atlantans choose to walk, scoot, or bike on our growing network of protected lanes and car-free streets like the BeltLine. Monroe Drive for instance is down 30%!

A surface parking lot in a historic commercial node turned into homes and businesses. The Make Atlanta 1988 Again regulars said this building would destroy the neighborhood, but with it, East Atlanta is stronger than ever.

Every neighborhood commercial district could look like this every Saturday if we opened the streets to people.

Love to see a second story added to an existing building in EAV. This type of construction was unremarkable for thousands of years, but thanks to our insane land planning and zoning laws, it’s extremely rare today. Kudos to whoever is behind this!
