They’d rarely have more than one loss and The committee wouldn’t have to explain themselves when they put them in the playoffs every year.

This year, Oregon, OleMiss, TAMU, and Oklahoma are all being rewarded and given at least a week off for being such bad regular season teams that they can’t even play for their conference championships while OSU,Indiana,Georgia, and TT are being punished and forced to play an extra meaningless game.

NFL weather forecast isn’t looking great for the @jaguarsnfl.bsky.social game on Sunday 😟

The only team that gets rewarded is the lone team that can go undefeated in December.

Yes! It preserves the importance of the regular season, rivalry games, conference championships, and helps protect players by giving everyone involved a week to get healthy in December. You could add a rule: no rematches in week 3 (unless it’s impossible to avoid).

Winning your conference championship earns you a week 2 bye. The next 8 will have to play back to back games. That makes the conference championship games important while still allowing 8 “wildcards” an opportunity. If the 5th best team in the SEC gets left out, who cares? Simple tweak.

Right now, OSU, Indiana, Texas Tech, and possibly UGA are playing meaningless games. TAMU is being rewarded for losing to Texas. We might have to watch a rematch of the Big 10 championship game 2 weeks from now. The way it is now is stupid. The most meaningful game this weekend is UVA vs Duke.

1&2 are in, they play on the 1st weekend of December during their conference championship games. The winner advances and gets one week off. On the second weekend of December, the 8 highest ranked teams play each other for a chance to play the 4 conference champions on the 3rd weekend of December.

It’s better than what we have this year, preserves the importance of the regular season, preserves the importance of winning your conference championships, and gives 4 more teams the opportunity for meaningful postseason play without requiring the players to play an extra game. It’s also good 4bowls
