I also want to share this anthology of short stories written by undergrad students in my black spec fiction course.

The creative final was optional & most chose to write a short story. The result was stunning & is an example of why I love teaching so much-esp. at a majority minority public school

keeping the same energy from the other place. I post about teaching/pedagogy/thoughts on my black lit, ghosts, horror, and all things intimate ghosts.

In the spring I get to teach this dream grad course based on my ongoing research for the first book manuscript ✨

currently (re)reading for our last “engendered histories” grad class meeting tomorrow.

How to do we ethically write about the dead? How do we “not tell the story that must be told” of those “poem-lives” that have been deemed “less than history?”

I forever grateful to my graduate students for holding space to thoughtfully grapple w/ these hard & timely questions.

On the docket for this Spring w/ University of Houston English. These classes feel even weightier teaching in the wake of the closure of the DEI & LGBTQ centers on campus.
