HDS Dean Marla F. Frederick offered the benediction and opening prayer at the W.E.B. Du Bois Medal ceremony, hosted by the Hutchins Center for African & African American Research. The event honors changemakers shaping Black culture, scholarship, and civic life.

Last fall, HDS began a strategic planning process with input from the HDS community to outline School-wide priorities. The priorities build on the School's strong foundation, while bringing the future of the study of religion into even greater focus.

Yesterday, our students began graduation celebrations with one of our favorite events of the year, the Multireligious Commencement Service! 💛

Music, prayer, and poetry were offered from all faith traditions as we celebrated our pluralistic community.

Congratulations are in order! HDS Professor Annette Yoshiko Reed, MTS ’99, has been awarded a 2025 Guggenheim Fellowship for significant contributions to the study of ancient Judaism, early Christianity, and Jewish-Christian relations.
