It's for the animals in war and for their contribution even though they couldn't consent. War horses, bomb disposal dogs, even carrier pigeons. There's an amazing and very moving memorial in London that I visited years ago.

Met a lovely lady on this bench yesterday. Her husband died only weeks ago and she was still reeling in grief. We had a quiet and gentle chat together and discovered lots in common, one thing being our love of dogs and an appreciation of how they comfort and save us.

I may be agnostic but I still respect and appreciate the nature of sacred spaces. Now more than ever, we need calm, safe, tranquil and natural areas where we can seek our own solace, quietude and comfort.
