If I tell you I’ve spent years reading these deal announcements, you might feel a hint of the excitement and overwhelming emotion I felt when I saw my debut listed on Publishers Marketplace this morning. I don’t think this feeling will ever get old.

Like many on this thread tonight, I tend to not write to catch a trend, but focus on a story I feel is evergreen and from my heart…

I’d like to flip this on its head though— what would people LIKE to see in #kidlit? What are kids craving these days?

#kidlitchat
TOPIC: We just had a time change and, as always, times are changing, too. Do you keep an eye on trends? How do they inform how you work? And what trends are you noticing in the kidbook biz these days? #kidlitchat

There's a #kidlitchat today here on Bluesky at 9PM Eastern/6PM Pacific. This happens every Tuesday, by the way, where for an hour we #kidlit folk get together and, ya know, chat. You should make it part of your Tuesday routine, I tell you. Or at least join us this week! Hope to see you soon....

I know a lot of groups are trying to capture some of what NaNoWriMo offered, but I think #RevPit is really helping recapture the community aspect of the event. And also just doing so much to rebuild the online writing community post-Twitter.
SAVE THE DATES!

Here's out official schedule for #RevPitFiF! Join us throughout the week for writing sprints hosted by our wonderful editors, along with our mock pitch contest for practice (#MockPit) and our Critique Partner Match!

Still in a happy daze after a VERY full day at the inaugural Jewish Writers #Mifgash25. So grateful to all who made it possible. Can't tag everyone, but will cite @ujafedny.bsky.social for trusting our team to make it a reality. Program details: www.theartistsagainstantisemitism.com/mifgash-sche...

I wrote my first MG novel in first person which was a helpful way to remind myself to stay in that #kidlit voice. Not sure what the next one will be, I think it’ll depend on the voice(s) I hear in my head. ☺️ As for reading, any POV is a good POV if done well!! #kidlitchat
TOPIC: We want to know how you decide between first person or third person when you're working on a manuscript. Do you prefer one? Do you prefer reading one to the other? (FYI: behind the scenes, emails flew and they came up with this topic.) #kidlitchat

For anyone who wants to know what motivates #kidlit writers (yours truly included) this is why. It’s hope. #kidlitchat 👇
Reading middle grade fiction has always been one of my sweet spots because there is almost always HOPE. I have found this is not always a guarantee with adult books. #KidLitChat

TOPIC: Why do you create/read the stories you create/read? Like… if you write MG, what makes THAT the age range you focus on? Yes, we all do lots of stuff, but if you gravitate towards one thing... why? #kidlitchat

I suspect many of us share the sentiment of Madeleine L'Engle - “You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.” #kidlitchat

She chose me and my middle grade novel, BEYOND THE MOON, for #RevPit and I couldn't be happier. She helped me revise and edit my story to the next level. Thank you, Hanna!
