We almost had the Gripen. The F-35 is too high a risk. The U.S. is hardly a responsible and reliable partner anymore. What if Trump or a future GOP POTUS has a snit and decided to just shut them down. No. I trust the Swedes a lot more than the U.S.A. Besides the U.S. just got a big order from SA.

I use it extensively. I find it extremely useful. It's just another tool. Unfortunately I think it's already near peak usefulness and continued development is more about profit than altruism. Not sure it's going to succeed. In the meantime we have to continue to watch the Earth burn for the rich.
